Automated meteorological radar system (AMRS) «Meteor-MeteoCell» is a highly efficient radar system for providing clients with information on cloud cover and associated severe weather (heavy rains, thunderstorms, hail, squall) with high reliability and efficiency in the most convenient for the client form.

The complex provides complete integration with the radar network of the CIS countries.

Features

  1. transfer of primary radar data by LAN;
  2. creation of radar archives based on data types (reflectability, radial velocity, spectrum width, differential reflectivity, differential phase, specific differential phase, cross-correlation coefficient);
  3. creation of Cartesian fields of radar data for subsequent processing;
  4. processing of received information for the purpose of getting additional radar characteristics (weather events, recovered velocities, total precipitation, wind shear, hydrometeor classification, etc.);
  5. calculation of velocity and direction of cloud system drift after each observation cycle;
  6. visualization of diagnostics of weather radar condition;
  7. displaying observation data on PC screen as the following charts:
    • weather events,
    • height of radio echo field top,
    • hazardous weather,
    • reflectability in 15 layers,
    • precipitation rate,
    • amount of precipitation for any time period,
    • outlines of hazardous weather,
    • velocities of squalls,
    • visibility in precipitation,
    • vertical section in any azimuth and any air route,
    • icing in any azimuth and any air route,
    • radial and recovered velocities,
    • spectrum width at different levels,
    • differential reflectivity,
    • differential phase,
    • specific differential phase,
    • cross-correlation coefficient,
    • hydrometeor classification;

  8. calculation of wind shear for each glide path;
  9. possibility of presenting and transferring data to users in different formats: BUFR, RADOB, BMP, T4 etc.;
  10. possibility of printing charts;
  11. possibility of transferring data to users using different transfer protocols including TCP/IP socket (MECOM network);
  12. possibility of constructing composite WR charts at workstation of automated meteorological radar network (WS «MARS»).

As of 1 June 2017, AMRC were installed at 8 international airports in Russia, Ukraine, Belorussia, Kazakhstan.
